…the becoming

… so who is Prince Ajibola X?

Have you ever wondered what happened to that foreign kid in your class, you know the one that was shy and guarded and somewhat overlooked and underrated. Well he grew up to be a boss and he happens to be me in the sense that he and I, share a common narrative of growing up feeling out of place, code-switching and constantly adapting to very hostile environments.

I am Prince Ajibola Umarhabib-Amzat and no, I’m not next on the thrown in Wakanda but I’m a man who is privileged to know his roots and one who is grounded in a Yoruba land where he has come to recognize and respect his ancestry’s nobility and decision to shy away from traditional rule. I’m a man who proudly carries his name and titles as one and the same with dignity and pride.

“OMOBA” – Child of the King

Yoruba to English translation: Omoba is a word now used to acknowledge a person’s nobility. It’s a word synonymous with “Prince” and “Princess”

Having a deep love for my culture and ancestry was a fundamental part of my journey of self-love and self-discovery. I am now fortunate to consider myself a proud Yoruba man and admittedly confess Yoruba people and Nigerians in general as the new nomads we are.

When we talk about identity by definition of country-based origins, you can say I’m a British Born, Nigerian-American but above anything else, and beyond any borders and above all politics I choose to identify as “Human”. This is an identity that is symbolically denoted by the X in my pen name “Prince Ajibola X” where the X symbolizes a human who cannot be boxed into stereotypes or the social constructs that society forces on us when it comes to religion, culture, sexuality, and expectations. It also serves as the conglomerate of all 9 of my recognized names. Having so many names is to be expected coming from a blended cultural and spiritually religious family.

My identity is the product of my recognized intersectionalities, and that adds to my emotional and psychological empathy when it comes to basic human understanding that cuts across cultural, political, religious, and racial prejudice.

As your coach, I want you to see me for the human that I am and to be motivated by my approach on self-discovery as I put in daily work to better myself and attain my best self.

Do not be discourage out there for our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond compare, Marianne Williamson thought us that and that starts with us embracing our identities.

I look forward to virtually meeting all my readers and I extend an open door for you all to join me on any of my open adventures and curated experiences
